John 1:14, And the Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us, and we saw his glory, the glory as of the Father’s only Son, full of grace and truth.
So many things immediately increase my heartrate; a text, new pictures, notifications, countless screen graphics, a new place to eat, things I can buy, quick and ever-changing world and on and on! But most are impersonal, digital, superficial and merely physical things that, in the end leave me empty; a bit like throwing up! In short my soul is poorer! Because I am so given over to the immediate and superficial, the healthy and substantial emotional/spiritual food takes pricey, meditative-time and pricey, conscious-decisions to think hard and process deep things. Take for instance the revelation that the infinite, bigger-than-the-universe-God, “became flesh and dwelt among us.” We can get lost in the wonder and awe of this limitless, soul-feeding truth? But will I pay the price and decide to meditate on this wonder? Will you?
